Food Smarts

Natalie Marsh, a registered dietitian, shared her knowledge and tips for healthier eating. She talked about "Go!" foods, meaning foods that are healthy and make good fuel for our bodies, and "Woah!" foods, meaning foods that we shouldn't eat too much of because they're not as nutritious.

She helped us assemble a trail mix (popcorn, nuts, dried fruit, and a few chocolate chips), yogurt parfaits (yogurt + fruit), crackers with hummus and cucumbers, and toothpick food structures.

One of the great tips she shared is that when there is a food we dislike, instead of proclaiming our hatred for it, thereby reinforcing our view and possibly affecting the views around us, we should just quietly hold a thumbs "sideways," to mean, "I don't like this food yet."

  1. My first time checkin' out the AD girls blog! This is great! Fun photos and awesome activities. I thoroughly enjoyed eating some of Megan's ginormous creation of snacks from this activity. :)
